Go deeper this week with a 5 day devotional:
Day 1: The Weight of the Cross
Scripture: “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.” —1 Peter 2:24
Reflection: On Friday night, we nailed our sins to the cross—a messy, painful reminder that it was our sin that placed Jesus there. But there’s beauty even in that moment, because the cross is not the end of the story. We must face the weight of our sin honestly. Not to be consumed by guilt, but to understand the cost of our forgiveness. Jesus took it all—willingly. And when we burned those papers, it was a powerful symbol: forgiven. forgotten. forever.
Life Application: Today, take a moment to reflect on your own life. Is there something you’re still holding onto that Jesus has already paid for? Maybe guilt, shame, or fear? Release it again—he’s already dealt with it.
Prayer: Jesus, I don’t want to forget the cost of my forgiveness. Help me to live in the freedom You died to give me. Thank You for carrying my sin to the cross and for saying, “It is finished.” Amen.
Day 2: Beauty on the Other Side
Scripture: “He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.” —Matthew 28:6
Reflection: The cross was once a symbol of shame and death, but today it stands adorned with flowers and palm branches—a symbol of victory and beauty. Why? Because Jesus rose. Without the resurrection, our faith is futile. But because He lives, we have hope, joy, and purpose. The beauty of the empty tomb means your story isn’t over—it’s just getting started.
Life Application: What in your life feels dark or hopeless? What feels like a “Friday” moment? Remember, Sunday came. Resurrection happened. Ask God to open your eyes to the beauty He’s creating out of your pain.
Prayer: Lord, thank You that there is always beauty on the other side of the cross. Help me to walk in resurrection power, not in defeat. Open my eyes to the hope and joy that come from You. Amen.
Day 3: Faith Built on the Resurrection
Scripture: “If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.” —1 Corinthians 15:17 Reflection: There have been countless attempts to disprove the resurrection—but the evidence is clear. The disciples didn’t die for a lie. Paul was radically changed. James the skeptic became a believer. The tomb was empty. Over 500 witnesses saw the risen Christ. The resurrection is not just a story—it’s the foundation of our faith. It’s proof that Jesus conquered death and that every promise of God is trustworthy.
Life Application: If the resurrection really happened (and it did), then every part of your life can rest on that truth. Live boldly. Love deeply. Speak courageously. You’re standing on solid ground.
Prayer: Jesus, You are alive, and that changes everything. Strengthen my faith. Help me to live with boldness, knowing my Savior has overcome the grave. Amen.
Day 4: Go and Make Disciples
Scripture: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations… teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” —Matthew 28:19-20
Reflection: The resurrection didn’t just happen for us to sit still. Jesus gave us a mission: go and make disciples. That means sharing what we’ve seen, what we’ve experienced, and who we know—Jesus. You don’t need a stage or a microphone. Just a willing heart. Disciples make disciples. This faith was never meant to stop with you.
Life Application: Who in your life needs to hear the good news? Maybe a friend, co-worker, or family member? Ask God for an open door this week to share hope and offer prayer.
Prayer: God, send me. I don’t want to keep this good news to myself. Help me make disciples who follow Jesus, not me. Let Your light shine through my words, my actions, and my love. Amen.
Day 5: For the Joy Set Before Him
Scripture: “For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” —Hebrews 12:2
Reflection: Jesus willingly went to the cross, not because it was easy, but because of the joy ahead—you. Like a mother enduring labor to bring forth life, Jesus endured the pain of the cross knowing it would result in salvation for many. You are His joy. You are His reason. That’s how much you matter to Him.
Life Application: Do you really believe that Jesus saw you—even back then—and counted you worth the suffering? Walk in that identity today. You are deeply loved, fully forgiven, and eternally pursued.
Prayer: Jesus, thank You for enduring the cross for me. You saw the joy ahead and chose to suffer in my place. I choose today to live in response to that love—with gratitude, obedience, and purpose. Amen.
