6.8.25 Empowered

Go deeper this week with this 5 day devotional:
Day 1: The Spirit Is a Person to Know
Scripture: Romans 8:16 — “The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.”
Reflection: Many people view the Holy Spirit as a mysterious power or impersonal force, but Scripture makes it clear: He is a person, not an “it.” He feels, thinks, speaks, and leads. The Spirit isn’t something we tap into but someone we walk with. Just as we build a relationship with Jesus, we are also called to know the Holy Spirit intimately.
Life Application: Ask yourself: Do I treat the Holy Spirit as a person? Do I listen for His voice, seek His comfort, and invite His guidance? Begin today by speaking to the Spirit as you would to a friend. Invite Him into your day.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, help me to know You more personally. Teach me to hear Your voice and follow Your lead. I don’t want to live unaware of Your presence in my life. Amen.

Day 2: When the Spirit is Absent
Scripture: Galatians 5:22–23 — “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”
Reflection: When the Holy Spirit is present and active in our lives, fruit grows. But when He is ignored or grieved, spiritual dryness sets in—prayer becomes a chore, Scripture feels silent, worship turns hollow. Like a janitor keeping a building clean, the Spirit quietly but powerfully keeps our hearts healthy and alive. Life Application: Where do you feel spiritually dry? What areas in your life are missing the fruit of the Spirit? Ask the Holy Spirit to renew and revive those places. Give Him permission to “clean house.”
Prayer: Spirit of God, search my heart. Show me where I’ve grown cold or distant. Sweep away the dust of indifference and rekindle Your life within me. Let Your fruit be seen in me. Amen.

Day 3: Empowered for a Purpose
Scripture: Acts 1:8 — “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses…”
Reflection: The Holy Spirit doesn’t come to give us warm feelings or boost our emotions—He comes to empower us to live on mission. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us and calls us to be witnesses. Not in our own strength, but with heaven’s power—dynamis power.
Life Application: Do you live with confidence in the Spirit’s power, or do you feel like a power tool without a battery? Take a moment to “plug in.” Ask the Spirit to give you courage to speak, strength to love, and boldness to witness.
Prayer: Lord, I need Your power today. I can’t do this alone. Fill me with Your Spirit so I can live boldly and love deeply. Help me to be Your witness in every space I enter. Amen.

Day 4: The Spirit Still Speaks
Scripture: John 16:13 — “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth…”
Reflection: God didn’t stop speaking after the Bible was written. The Spirit continues to guide, speak, correct, and confirm His Word in our lives. Through nudges, convictions, dreams, words of knowledge, and godly counsel, the Spirit still leads. Sometimes unexpectedly—even through a cheesy moment at a conference!
Life Application: Think about a recent time when you felt a “nudge” or a thought you couldn’t explain. Could it have been the Spirit? Begin journaling what you sense the Spirit saying. Ask Him for discernment to know what is from Him.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, speak to me. Guide me in truth. Help me recognize Your voice in the noise of life and follow You with confidence. I want to be sensitive to Your leading. Amen.

Day 5: The Spirit Glorifies Jesus
Scripture: Acts 2:36–38 — “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus… both Lord and Messiah…”
Reflection: At Pentecost, the Spirit didn’t draw attention to Himself—He glorified Jesus. Peter, once afraid, stood boldly and proclaimed the Gospel. The Spirit convicted hearts, and 3,000 people were saved. The Spirit’s power is for transformation and testimony, not spiritual showmanship.
Life Application: Is your life bringing glory to Jesus? Ask the Spirit to use you to point others to Christ. Like Peter, you may be timid—but the Spirit can give you the boldness to speak truth in love.
Prayer: Spirit of God, use me to bring glory to Jesus. Help me speak when I need to, love when it’s hard, and serve with joy. Let my life be a witness to the greatness of Christ. Amen.
