4.19.26 – Ephesians 1

Our Identity in Christ

Day 1 — Grace and Peace

📖 Scripture.  Ephesians 1:1–2

💭 Devotional Thought.  Paul opens his letter not with small talk, but with something far deeper: “Grace and peace to you.” This wasn’t just a greeting—it was a reminder of what every believer already possesses in Christ.

Imagine how different the lives of those around us could look if we truly greeted people and prayed blessings over them — even in casual encounters.

Grace and peace are not things we chase—they are gifts we receive and live from.

🪞 Reflection.  Do you superficially interact with the body of Christ or do you actively share God’s grace and peace?

🙏 Prayer.  Father, thank You for Your grace and peace given through Jesus. Help me to live today from that truth, not striving for what You have already freely given. Amen.

Day 2 — Chosen by the Father

📖 Scripture.  Ephesians 1:3–6

💭 Devotional Thought.  Before the foundation of the world, God chose you. Not because of anything you had done or would do, but because of His love and His good pleasure.  From the very beginning, humanity was set apart—created in God’s image, designed for relationship with Him. Even after sin entered the world and broke that relationship, God did not abandon His plan. Instead, He made a way through Jesus to bring us back and adopt us into His family.

This means your identity is not random, accidental, or self-made. You are chosen with purpose. You are loved intentionally. You are wanted by God Himself.

🪞 Reflection.  Do you truly believe that God chose you on purpose, or do you struggle to feel worthy of His love?

🙏 Prayer.  Lord, thank You for choosing me and loving me even when I didn’t deserve it. Help me to rest in Your love and live as someone set apart for You. Amen.

Day 3 — Redeemed by the Son

📖 Scripture.  Ephesians 1:7–10

💭 Devotional Thought.  “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.” Redemption means a price was paid to bring something back. We were lost in sin, unable to save ourselves—but Jesus stepped in and paid the price we could never pay.

What’s beautiful is that this passage speaks of both payment and forgiveness. The cross satisfied God’s justice.  We are not just legally cleared—we are relationally restored.  This is the depth of God’s love: He didn’t just cancel your debt; He brought you home.

🪞 Reflection.  Do you live as someone who is still carrying guilt, or as someone fully forgiven and restored?

🙏 Prayer.  Jesus, thank You for paying the price for my sin. Help me to walk in the freedom of forgiveness and never forget the cost of my redemption. Amen.

Day 4 — Adopted and Sealed

📖 Scripture.  Ephesians 1:11–14

💭 Devotional Thought.  Through Christ, you have been adopted into God’s family. This isn’t symbolic—it’s a spiritual reality.  You have full rights as a child of God, including an inheritance that will never fade.  In the ancient world, adoption meant a complete and permanent change of identity. The adopted child gained a new name, a new family, and a secure future. That’s exactly what God has done for you.

And not only are you adopted—you are sealed with the Holy Spirit. This seal is God’s guarantee that you belong to Him and that His promises will be fulfilled.  You don’t have to wonder who you are anymore. You are a child of the King.

🪞 Reflection.  Where are you still searching for identity instead of embracing your identity as God’s child?

🙏 Prayer.  Father, thank You for adopting me into Your family.  Help me to live confidently as Your child, secure in Your love and promises. Amen.

Day 5 — From Identity Crisis to Identity in Christ

📖 Scripture.  Matthew 7:24–27

💭 Devotional Thought.  The world is full of people searching for identity—through careers, relationships, success, or approval.  But these things are like sand.  When life’s storms come, they cannot hold.

Jesus warned about this. If we build our lives on anything other than Him, we will eventually find ourselves shaken.  But when our identity is rooted in Christ—the solid rock—we will stand firm no matter what comes.

You are not defined by your past, your possessions, or others’ opinions. You are chosen, redeemed, adopted, and sealed. You are a child of the King.  And with that identity comes purpose: to love God, love others, serve faithfully, and live in a way that points people back to Him.

🪞 Reflection.  What foundation are you building your life on right now — shifting sand, or the solid rock of Christ?

🙏 Prayer.  Lord, help me to build my life on You alone. Strengthen my identity in Christ so that I may stand firm in every season and live for Your purpose. Amen.
