5 Day devotional:
Day 1 — Prepare the Way
📖 Scripture: Luke 3:4–6
💭 Devotional Thought: John the Baptist’s message was simple but powerful: prepare the way of the Lord. He wasn’t calling people to admire Jesus from a distance—he was calling them to get their hearts ready. Preparation meant repentance, humility, and a willingness to change. The tragedy then—and now—is a heart cluttered with pride, distraction, or sin will struggle to recognize the King when He comes. Preparing the way is not a one-time act—it’s a daily posture of surrender.
🪞 Reflection: What in your life might be crowding out space for Jesus? Is there anything you need to lay down to better prepare your heart?
🙏 Prayer: Lord, prepare my heart for You. Remove anything that keeps me from fully receiving You. Help me to live in daily readiness for Your presence. Amen.
Day 2 — Don’t Miss Him
📖 Scripture: John 1:10–11
💭 Devotional Thought: Jesus came into the very world He created—and many didn’t recognize Him. Even those who were waiting for the Messiah missed Him because He didn’t meet their expectations. They wanted a conquering king, not a suffering Savior. It’s possible to be close to the things of God and still miss Him entirely. We can get caught up in routine, tradition, or our own assumptions and overlook the very presence of Christ. The warning is clear: don’t miss Him.
🪞 Reflection: Are there ways you might be overlooking Jesus because He isn’t working the way you expected?
🙏 Prayer: Jesus, open my eyes to see You clearly. Remove my expectations and replace them with faith to trust who You truly are. Amen.
Day 3 — Turn from Sin
📖 Scripture: Acts 3:19
💭 Devotional Thought: Preparation always involves repentance. To “turn from sin” isn’t just about feeling bad—it’s about changing direction. John’s call to repentance was urgent because the King was coming. The same is true for us. We cannot hold onto sin and fully embrace Christ as Lord. Repentance clears the path, softens the heart, and makes room for transformation. It’s not about perfection—it’s about surrender.
🪞 Reflection: Is there a specific sin or pattern God is calling you to turn away from today?
🙏 Prayer: Father, give me the courage to turn from anything that separates me from You. Help me walk in obedience and freedom. Amen.
Day 4 — More Than a Savior
📖 Scripture: Luke 6:46
💭 Devotional Thought: The crowds on Palm Sunday shouted praises, but many of those same voices would later fall silent—or even turn against Jesus. Why? It’s easy to celebrate Jesus when He meets our needs, but true faith submits to His authority. Receiving Jesus as Lord means giving Him control—not just on Sundays, but our whole lives. He isn’t just the one who saves us; He is the one who leads us.
🪞 Reflection: Is Jesus truly Lord over every area of your life, or are there places you’re still holding back?
🙏 Prayer: Jesus, I don’t just want You as my Savior—I want You as my Lord. Take control of every part of my life. Lead me in Your ways. Amen.
Day 5 — Worship with Your Life
📖 Scripture: Matthew 21:8–11
💭 Devotional Thought: The crowds laid down palm branches and praised Jesus as He entered Jerusalem—but their worship was shallow. They celebrated with their lips, but their lives didn’t reflect true devotion. It’s a sobering reminder that outward praise can exist without inward transformation. God isn’t looking for momentary excitement—He desires lasting obedience. True worship is not just what we say; it’s how we live.
🪞 Reflection: Does your daily life reflect the worship you offer with your words?
🙏 Prayer: Lord, let my life be an act of worship. Help me to honor You not just with my words, but with my actions and choices every day. Amen.
