5 Day Devotional
Day 1 β The One Who Sustains Life
π Scripture: John 6:35
π Devotional Thought: Throughout the Gospel of John, Jesus makes a series of powerful βI amβ statements. When He says, βI am the bread of life,β He is reminding us that our lives are dependent not on what the world produces, but on the One who is the Source of life itself. Just as bread sustains the body, Christ sustains the soul.
πͺ Reflection: Where have you been looking for life or fulfillment apart from Christ? How can you intentionally depend on Him as your source today?
π Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are the bread of life. Help me to stop chasing the empty promises of the world and instead rely on You as the source of my strength, hope, and life. Teach me to depend on You daily. Amen.
Day 2 β The One Who Leads Us Out of Darkness
π Scripture: John 8:12
π Devotional Thought: Jesus also declares, βI am the light of the world.β Light reveals what darkness hides. Without it, we stumble, unsure of where we are going. Godβs Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path because Jesus Himself is the Light. His light exposes sin, but it also guides us toward truth and restoration.
πͺ Reflection: Are there areas of your life where you are walking in confusion or spiritual darkness? How can you allow Christβs truth to illuminate that area today?
π Prayer: Lord, You are the light of the world. Shine Your truth into my life and guide my steps. Help me to follow You faithfully so that I may walk in Your light each day. Amen.
Day 3 β The Shepherd Who Opens the Way
π Scripture: John 10:9β11
π Devotional Thought: Jesus tells us that He is both the gate and the Good Shepherd. As the gate, He is the only entrance into salvation. The world offers many paths and promises many destinations, but Christ makes it clear that there is only one way to the Father. The One who is the gate is also the Shepherd who cares for His sheep. He knows us by name. He searches for the lost. And ultimately, He laid down His life for them.
πͺ Reflection: Do you recognize the voice of the Good Shepherd in your life? What helps you stay attentive to His leading?
π Prayer: Good Shepherd, thank You for calling me by name and guiding me in Your ways. Help me to listen carefully for Your voice and follow wherever You lead. Amen.
Day 4 β Life That Cannot Be Defeated
π Scripture: John 11:25β26
π Devotional Thought: When Jesus stood before the tomb of Lazarus, He declared, βI am the resurrection and the life.β This was more than a promiseβit was a demonstration of His authority over death itself. Throughout His ministry, Jesus healed the sick, restored sight to the blind, and freed those trapped in sin. Even in the face of suffering or loss, believers can stand with confidence knowing that Christ has overcome death.
πͺ Reflection: How does the truth that Jesus is the resurrection and the life change the way you face fear, suffering, or uncertainty?
π Prayer: Jesus, thank You for conquering death and giving the promise of eternal life. Help me to live each day with confidence in the victory You have already secured. Amen.
Day 5 β Abiding in the True Vine
π Scripture: John 15:1β5
π Devotional Thought: In John 15, Jesus says, βI am the true vine.β A branch cannot survive on its own. Once separated from the vine, it withers and dies. In the same way, our spiritual life cannot exist apart from Christ. To βabideβ in Him means to remain, to dwell, to stay connected to the source of life. When we stay connected to Christ, His life flows through us, and the natural result is fruit. Scripture describes this fruit as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These qualities are not manufactured through human effortβthey grow naturally from a life rooted in Jesus.
πͺ Reflection: What practices help you remain connected to Christ daily? Are there distractions pulling you away from abiding in Him?
π Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are the true vine and the source of my life. Help me to remain connected to You each day. Let Your life flow through me so that my life will produce fruit that honors You. Amen.
