A New Life in Christ
Day 1: Seeking Jesus in the Shadows
📖 Scripture: John 3:1–2
💠Devotional Thought: Nicodemus came to Jesus at night—caught between fear and curiosity. As a Pharisee, he had status, influence, and reputation. Jesus threatened all three. Yet something about Christ stirred Nicodemus’ heart. Jesus taught with authority, not borrowed from tradition but flowing directly from God.
🪞 Reflection: How often do we approach Jesus the same way—quietly, cautiously, hoping no one notices? Fear of what others might think can keep us from fully stepping into the light. But curiosity, when paired with humility, can lead us to life-changing truth. What fears keep you from openly seeking Jesus?
Are you more concerned with protecting your reputation or pursuing truth?
🙏 Prayer: Lord, give me courage to seek You honestly, even when fear whispers for me to stay hidden. Draw my heart out of the shadows and into Your light. Amen.
Day 2: You Must Be Born Again
📖 Scripture: John 3:3–8; John 1:12–13
💠Devotional Thought: Jesus doesn’t soften His words—“You must be born again.” This wasn’t a call to religious improvement but to spiritual rebirth. We are all born naturally into a broken world marked by sin and death. No amount of rule-keeping or moral effort can change that condition. Being born again is not something we accomplish—it is something God does. Jesus makes this clear: spiritual life begins with God’s work and results in a transformed life.
🪞 Reflection: Have you mistaken spiritual growth for spiritual birth? Are you trusting in what you’ve done—or what God has done?
🙏 Prayer: Father, thank You that new life comes from You alone. Help me to trust Your work in me and surrender fully to Your transforming power. Amen.
Day 3: Flesh Gives Birth to Flesh
📖 Scripture: John 3:6; Psalm 51:5–6
💠Devotional Thought: We are all born with a bent toward sin. It doesn’t need to be taught—it shows up naturally. Scripture is honest about this reality, and so is life. Patterns of brokenness, addiction, anger, or abuse often travel through families like unwanted heirlooms. But the gospel interrupts generational cycles. “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.” Being born again is how God breaks chains that human effort never could.
🪞 Reflection: Are there patterns in your life that feel inherited or unbreakable? Do you believe God can start something entirely new in you?
🙏 Prayer: Jesus, I bring You the broken patterns in my life. I am thankful that in You, the old can pass away and the new can begin. Make me new. Amen.
Day 4: Lifted Up for Our Healing
📖 Scripture: John 3:9–15; Numbers 21:4–9
💠Devotional Thought: When Israel was struck by judgment, God provided a remedy—a bronze serpent lifted up for all to see. Healing didn’t come from effort, but from trust. God acted first; the people had to respond.
Jesus tells Nicodemus this was pointing forward to Him. Christ would be lifted up on the cross, becoming the remedy for sin. Salvation is not earned—it is received. God provides; we believe.
🪞 Reflection: Are you trying to fix yourself instead of looking to Christ? What does it look like for you to trust God’s provision today?
🙏 Prayer: Lord, thank You for providing what I could never earn. Teach me to trust You fully and to look to You for healing and life. Amen.
Day 5: Stepping into the Light
📖 Scripture: John 3:16–21
💠Devotional Thought: “For God so loved the world…” This invitation is wide open. Salvation is not limited by background, past mistakes, or status. Whoever believes is welcomed.
But the light forces a decision. To step into it means leaving darkness behind. God has taken the active role—sending His Son, offering salvation, calling hearts. Our response matters. To accept or reject that call is still a choice.
🪞 Reflection: Are there areas of your life you are keeping in the dark? Ask God to help you to step into His light today.
🙏 Prayer: Jesus, thank You for loving me enough to call me out of darkness. Help me walk in Your light and respond faithfully to Your invitation. I trust You with my life. Amen.
