Rev. Betsy Perkins (“Pastor Betsy”) accepted the call to serve as Pastor of First Baptist Church of Delavan in September 2016. Betsy came from Arizona where she served as chaplain and nurse at Rainbow Acres, a ministry of providing homes with heart for adults with developmental disabilities. Prior to that Betsy and her husband, David, served as global servants with International Ministries in India. Together, Betsy and David have three adult children and two delightful grandchildren.
Betsy began her career as a Registered Nurse, but during her time of mission service began to sense God’s calling to be as prepared to care for people spiritually, as she was to provide physical and emotional care. At the heart of her call is an encounter with Christ through a destitute woman at Mother Teresa’s Home for the Dying Destitute in Kolkata, India in 2002. She enrolled in the ‘In Ministry’ program at Bethel Seminary in St. Paul, MN, completing her M.Div. studies in December 2012. Betsy was ordained by the Federated Church of Green Lake WI, through the American Baptist Churches of Wisconsin on October 6, 2013.
Betsy is continually amazed that God is using her to do the things that bring her delight – worshipping God, leading others in worship, and teaching, encouraging and practicing the discipleship of Jesus Christ.
“For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, love, and self-discipline.” 2Tim.1:7
