2.1.26 Well, Well, Well John 4

2.1.26 Well, Well, Well John 4

Which Well do you drink from?

Day 1: Crossing Lines for Love

📖 Scripture: John 4:1–6

đź’ Devotional Thought:  Jesus had options. Like most Jews of His time, He could have avoided Samaria altogether. That detour would have been safer, cleaner, and socially acceptable. But John tells us plainly: “He had to pass through Samaria.”

This wasn’t about geography—it was about grace.

🪞 Reflection: What might it look like for Jesus to meet someone there through you?

🙏 Prayer:  Lord, give me Your eyes and Your courage. Help me not avoid the places or people You long to reach. Teach me to walk in love, even when it’s uncomfortable. Amen.

Day 2: Noon at the Well

📖 Scripture: John 4:7–9

đź’ Devotional Thought:  She comes alone — She comes at noon —The details matter.  Fetching water was usually a communal event—early morning or evening, filled with conversation and connection. But this woman shows up in the heat of the day, when no one else is around. She isn’t avoiding the sun—she’s avoiding the stares, the whispers, the side-eyes. Shame isolates, guilt drives us into hiding.

🪞 Reflection:  Jesus doesn’t wait for her to clean up her reputation. He meets her right where she is.

Where do you hide because of guilt, fear, or past mistakes? What would it look like to believe that Jesus meets you there—not with judgment, but with grace?

🙏 Prayer:  Jesus, thank You for meeting me in my hidden places. Help me believe that I don’t have to hide from You. Replace my shame with Your grace. Amen.

Day 3: Empty Wells

📖 Scripture: John 4:10–15; Matthew 5:6

đź’ Devotional Thought:  Jesus shifts the conversation from physical thirst to something deeper—a thirst of the soul. He tells her that the water He offers will become “a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

The question is where we go to drink, or have our needs met?

We return again and again to wells that never satisfy—habits, distractions, validation, substances, control, pleasure—hoping this time will be different. But empty wells always leave us thirsty.

🪞 Reflection:  What “well” do you keep returning to for comfort or fulfillment? How has it left you thirsty again?

🙏 Prayer:  Jesus, I confess that I often drink from empty wells. Help me turn to You instead. Fill me with what truly satisfies my soul. Amen.

Day 4: Exposed and Free

📖 Scripture: John 4:16–26

đź’ Devotional Thought:  “Go, call your husband.”  With one sentence, Jesus exposes what she’s spent years hiding. And yet, instead of condemnation, she finds freedom. When her truth lands in the hands of the One who calms storms, it becomes healing instead of destruction.  For the first time, she stops deflecting—and starts asking real questions about worship, truth, and God. Jesus moves the conversation beyond location and ritual: “True worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth.”

And in that moment, Jesus reveals something extraordinary—He openly declares that He is the Messiah.

🪞 Reflection:  Is there something in your life you’re afraid to let Jesus expose? How might truth actually bring freedom instead of fear?

🙏 Prayer:  Lord, help me trust You with my whole story. I want to worship You in spirit and in truth, with nothing hidden and nothing held back. Amen.

Day 5: Open Your Eyes

📖 Scripture: John 4:28–35; 1 Corinthians 3:6

đź’ Devotional Thought:  The woman leaves her water jar—the very reason she came—and runs back to town. The one who avoided people now can’t stop telling them about Jesus.  That’s what happens when you encounter Christ.

Jesus tells His disciples, “Open your eyes—the fields are ripe for harvest.” The harvest isn’t somewhere far away. It’s in neighborhoods, workplaces, coffee shops, gas stations, and grocery aisles.  One plants, another waters, God brings the growth.

Your role matters—even if you never see the results. Faithfulness is never wasted.

🪞 Reflection:  Who has God placed in your daily path? Where might He be inviting you to plant or water a seed?

🙏 Prayer:  Jesus, open my eyes to the harvest around me. Use my words, my kindness, and my story to point others to You. I trust You with the results. Amen.
