1.18.26 Jesus Calling

1.18.26 Jesus Calling

God is calling… How will you answer?

Day 1 – “Here I Am”

📖 Scripture: Genesis 12:1–4; Genesis 22:1–3

God’s call to Abraham wasn’t vague—it was costly. “Leave your country… go to the land I will show you.” Later, that same voice asked Abraham to place Isaac on the altar. Each time, Abraham responded not with arguments, but with availability.

💭 Devotional Thought: “God’s call” is less about knowing the future and more about trusting the One who holds it.

🪞 Reflection: Is there an area where God may be asking you to trust Him without having all the answers?

🙏 Prayer: Lord, when You call, help me respond with trust instead of fear. Teach me to say, “Here I am,” even when I don’t know what’s next. Amen.

Day 2 – Listening for God’s Voice

📖 Scripture: Exodus 3:1–12; 1 Samuel 3:1–10; Isaiah 6:8

God called Moses from a burning bush, Samuel in the quiet of the night, and Isaiah in a vision of heavenly worship. Each call required listening before action. God spoke clearly, but each servant had to be willing to respond.

💭 Devotional Thought: God still speaks today, but our lives can be filled with noise and distraction. Hearing Him requires a heart that is attentive and ready to obey.

🪞 Reflection: What distractions might be making it harder for you to hear God’s voice?

🙏 Prayer: Speak, Lord. Quiet my heart and help me recognize Your voice above all others. Give me a listening spirit and a willing heart. Amen.

Day 3 – Availability Over Ability

📖 Scripture: John 1:35–42

Andrew wasn’t bold or outspoken, but he was willing. After meeting Jesus, he immediately went to find his brother and said, “We have found the Messiah.” Andrew didn’t preach a sermon—he simply shared what he knew.

💭 Devotional Thought: God doesn’t need impressive resumes or perfect personalities. He looks for people who are willing to show up and be used. Sometimes the greatest impact comes from quiet faithfulness.  God is more concerned with your availability than your ability.

🪞 Reflection: Who might God be calling you to influence simply by being willing to share Jesus?

🙏 Prayer: God, I offer myself to You just as I am. Use me in ways I may never see or fully understand. Amen.

Day 4 – Letting Go to Follow

📖 Scripture: Matthew 19:16–22; Luke 9:59–62

The disciples left their nets and followed Jesus without looking back. The rich young ruler, however, walked away because he couldn’t let go of what owned his heart. Jesus’ call always invites surrender.

💭 Devotional Thought: Following Jesus means moving forward without clinging to the past. We cannot keep our eyes on what’s behind us and still faithfully follow where He leads.  The question isn’t what you own—but what owns you.

🪞 Reflection: Is there something in your life that is making it difficult to fully follow Jesus?

🙏 Prayer: Jesus, show me anything I’m holding onto more tightly than You. Give me the courage to let go and trust You completely. Amen.

Day 5 – Are You Willing?

📖 Scripture: Acts 9:1–19; Hebrews 11:6

Jesus called Saul while he was headed in the wrong direction. That encounter transformed him into Paul, one of the greatest missionaries in history. God has always used imperfect people who were willing to answer His call.

💭 Devotional Thought: God does not call the qualified—He qualifies the called. Your past failures, doubts, or weaknesses do not disqualify you. Willingness is the starting point of obedience.  God uses imperfect people who are willing to say yes to His call.

🪞 Reflection: What might God be calling you to do right now that requires a willing heart?

🙏 Prayer: Lord, I may feel unqualified, but I give You my yes. Use my life for Your purposes and Your glory. Amen.
