5.11.25 – Psalm 23 – Week 3

Day 1: The Path of Righteousness Begins with Trust

📖 Scripture: Psalm 23:3 — “He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.”

Devotional Thought:
Righteous living starts with who you follow. We often try to direct our own steps, chasing after things that temporarily satisfy but leave us empty. True restoration happens when we trust Jesus to shepherd us—guiding us not for our own fame or comfort, but for His glory.

❤️ Life Application:
Today, ask yourself: “Who or what is guiding me right now?” Spend 5 minutes in quiet prayer, surrendering control of your life’s direction to the Good Shepherd.

🙏 Prayer:
Jesus, I surrender my need to control. Lead me in your path of righteousness. Help me trust that your way is better than mine.

Day 2: Faith Over Feelings

📖 Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:7 — “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

Devotional Thought:
Feelings are real, but they aren’t always reliable. Like the mothers of faith—Sarah, Ruth, Mary—walking by faith meant trusting God even when the road was uncertain. Faith is not ignoring reality, but choosing to believe God’s promises above what you see.

❤️ Life Application:
When fear or doubt creeps in today, pause and say aloud: “I choose to walk by faith, not by sight.” Write down a promise from God’s Word that you can cling to when feelings are overwhelming.

🙏 Prayer:
Lord, help me to trust your promises over my emotions. Strengthen my faith to walk with you, even when I don’t understand.

Day 3: Stay Off the Side Roads

📖 Scripture: Proverbs 4:27 — “Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil.”

Devotional Thought:
Life is full of tempting detours—things that look good but lead us away from God’s best. The enemy rarely tempts us with obviously dangerous paths. Instead, the side roads of “Ease Street” or “Gossip Place” seem harmless but slowly lead us off course.

❤️ Life Application:
Reflect on your daily habits. Are there “side roads” you’ve been wandering onto? Social media scrolling? Negative conversations? Ask God to reveal one area where you need to realign with His path.

🙏 Prayer:
Shepherd of my soul, keep my feet steady. Close my eyes to tempting detours and give me strength to stay on your path.

Day 4: Righteousness is Humble, Not Proud

📖 Scripture: Luke 18:13 — “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his chest and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’”

Devotional Thought:
Righteousness is not self-righteousness. God honors humility, not pride. The Pharisee boasted of his goodness, but it was the humble tax collector who left justified. Remember, outside of Christ, we are all equally in need of a Savior.

❤️ Life Application:
Today, practice humility in conversation. Resist the urge to compare yourself to others. Instead, pray for a heart that sees people through God’s merciful eyes.

🙏 Prayer:
Father, keep me from pride. Remind me daily that my worth comes from you alone. Teach me to walk humbly in righteousness.

Day 5: Keeping Your Eyes on Jesus

📖 Scripture: Hebrews 12:1-2 — “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”

Devotional Thought:
The path of righteousness is a long race, not a short sprint. To stay the course, we must fix our gaze on Jesus—not on distractions, not on other people, not even on ourselves. He is the author and finisher of our faith.

❤️ Life Application:
Begin your day by spending a few moments gazing at Jesus through worship or reading a Gospel story. Whenever you feel overwhelmed, pause and whisper, “Eyes on Jesus.”

🙏 Prayer:
Jesus, help me to stay focused on you. Give me perseverance to keep running this race of faith. May my life reflect your righteousness.
