February/March Mission Opportunities

Strike Out for the Homeless Shelter: Saturday, February 4 from 5:00-8:00 pm our congregation will be involved in the annual bowling event to strike out homelessness in our community. Event is held at the Delavan Lanes and also includes a raffle, bake sale and Super Bowl snacks. Cost to bowl is $10 and includes two games, shoe rental and a donation.

America for Christ Offering: During the month we will be collecting for this offering which has life-changing impact through ministries and resources that vitalize our congregation and communities with the hope of Jesus Christ!

Inner Beauty Center: Thursday, March 2nd will be a day trip to visit the Inner Beauty Center in Milwaukee. This mission attempts to get prostitutes off the streets of inner Milwaukee. Our loose change for March/April will go to supporting this mission. We will collect items for their Dignity Bags to take with us as a gift. Items needed include socks, pocket-size hand sanitizers and sweatpants/yoga pants.

Delavan Police/Rescue Project: The upper elementary Sunday school class is collecting new stuffed animals and homemade blankets to give to the Delavan Police/Rescue squad for distribution to children in the area that they feel are in need.

Poverty Simulation: On Monday February 20 from 8:30-11:30 we will participate in a Poverty Simulation offered by the local school district. This is an exercise of various scenarios and situations that people in poverty face daily. The purpose is to develop a better sense of empathy and respect for those in our community who face financial challenges. This is a free event.

Blessings in a Backpack: Our congregation will be filling backpacks on February 16 & 24th at 1:30 at Turtle Creek school. Food items are placed in children’s backpacks to be used over the weekend. We are also in need of jars of peanut butter.
